MAZE

a maze in’ people

AMAZIN’ people is a word play on "a maze in people"

This has been an ongoing collection of mazes I have drawn within people. This project was originally started to battle anxiety and insomnia, and was originally drawn on old fashion magazine ads. The constant focus and repetitive use of lines was very therapeutic for me, and the motions became hypnotic and mesmerizing.

People are extremely complex. The maze is an internal reflection of people I've met or how images made me feel. People's personalities are like mazes, they need to be navigated in order to be figured out. There are twists and turns and dead ends. There could be more than one way to figure out a person, and there could be no way as well.

Each maze is unique and no two are alike. This is a visual celebration to this crazy thing called life, internal struggles, complexities within ourselves, and the journey in getting to know someone.

Originally in my early work, I took magazine images and used that as my canvas, and I still do. Later I went digital. At times I will use my own photography to throw mazes on as well.
